Critical documents, located and organized

Managing an estate is dependent on being organized, and knowing which documents are necessary. We will sort through handwritten notes, expired life insurance policies, retirement plans, and any other documents we come across. We find them, organize them, and hand you a clear picture, so the legal work moves faster.

The hands-on side of probate

We do the digging so your attorney can do the law.

An executor is expected to produce wills, deeds, account statements, insurance policies, and tax records, often for someone who kept everything in a filing cabinet, a shoebox, and three different drawers. That searching is exactly the kind of hands-on work families dread, and exactly what we do.

We are not attorneys or accountants, and we're clear about that. We handle the finding and organizing, then hand your attorney a clean, sorted set of documents so their time, and your money, goes toward the legal work instead of the paper chase.

  • Bank, investment, and insurance records gathered
  • Bills and subscriptions identified so nothing lapses
  • A clear, sorted handoff for your attorney and accountant

Opening the box

That one box, taped shut in the closet for years.

Almost every estate has one: the box that's been sealed in a closet, an attic, or under a bed for years. Families often hope it holds the answers, the will, the insurance policy, the deed, and sometimes it does. Just as often it opens a kind of Pandora's box instead.

Inside are life insurance policies that quietly expired, work benefits that ended at retirement or a job change, duplicate records, handwritten notes, and financial information that's long out of date. When there are several boxes or a filing cabinet or two, it becomes genuinely overwhelming to face alone.

This is exactly the work we do. We sort, organize, and triage every document systematically, so what truly matters can be handed to your attorney and what isn't needed can be responsibly discarded. You move from a pile of the unknown to a clear record of what's been found and what still needs attention.

  • Active policies and benefits separated from expired ones
  • Originals of wills, deeds, and titles set aside safely
  • Sensitive papers shredded and disposed of responsibly

What we organize

The records that keep an estate moving

We know what executors and attorneys look for, and where it tends to hide. Here's the kind of paperwork we track down and sort.

Estate documents

Wills, trusts, deeds, vehicle titles, and any letters of authority the estate depends on.

Financial records

Bank, retirement, and investment statements, plus any debts, so the estate's finances can be understood clearly.

Insurance & benefits

Life, home, and health policies, plus pensions and benefits that survivors may be entitled to claim.

Bills & accounts

Utilities, subscriptions, and recurring accounts identified so they can be closed, transferred, or kept on as needed.

3

We hand it off cleanly

You and your attorney get an organized package, so meetings are short, focused, and far less expensive.

Common questions

Document organization questions

What executors ask about the paperwork. If yours isn't here, just call.

Ask us directly
Are you giving legal or financial advice?
No. We're not attorneys, accountants, or financial advisors, and we don't pretend to be. We do the hands-on work of finding and organizing documents, then hand them to the professionals you're working with.
What if we can't find an important document?
That's common, and a lot of what we do. We know the usual hiding places and the ways to request replacements for things like deeds, titles, and policy records, so a missing paper doesn't stall the whole estate.
How does this save money?
Attorneys and accountants bill for their time. Handing them a clean, organized set of documents means they spend it on the legal and tax work rather than sorting through a box of loose paper, which keeps the estate's costs down.
Can you do this along with the cleanout?
Yes. We often organize documents as part of a larger cleanout, setting paperwork aside safely while we clear the rest of the home. It's one coordinated effort instead of two separate ones.
